The Need for Nordic Improvements
Kincaid
Park is known throughout the world as a center for Nordic skiing and
serves as one of the few locations in the United States for the
development of biathlon. The park has hosted national and international
competition ranging from World Cup events to the 2003 national
championships.
Now with the newly completed biathlon range, we can attract even more of these events. In fact, our new range just hosted an international event and the range and course received rave reviews from the U.S. Biathlon system.
The final touches on the new course include the construction of a range
control building and a paved training trail. This trail will connect to
the existing trail system, and will allow for year-round training for
biathletes.
New Snowmaking System

Near Completion is a new 3-km looped system that will provide snowmaking
for the park's trails. The system can make snow that can be moved to
other areas of the park when there is a lack of natural snow. This
system could potentially extend the ski season another 1-2 months, as
well as ensure that races and community events are not cancelled when
snow cover is inadequate.
